Donate to Golden Gate Area Council

Your Friends of Scouting (FOS) donation supports Scouting programs in our local communities for over 12,000 youth. Thank you for your support!

Please choose to make either a one time donation or a recurring donation. Once connected, you will be able to select the district and unit to receive credit.

During these unprecedented times the 2020 CARES Act allows you to donate up to $300 (or $600 for a married couple) to a qualifying charitable organization such as Golden Gate Area Council, BSA and reduce your adjusted gross income (AGI) by up to $300 (or $600 for a married couple) on your 2021 Federal taxes!  Please consult your tax advisor for any additional information.

Matching Gifts using Double the Donation

Many corporations match employee donations (or the tax-deductible component of your membership) to  our organization.  If you volunteer with us, your employer may also provide us with a grant to recognize ongoing support. Please, check to see if your company offers these programs.

Please note that it is taking some time for matching platforms such as Benevity, Cybergrants, Your Cause, United Way, etc. to show our updated BSA Council name. Therefore, you may donate to the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council EIN 94-1156249 and it will be credited to the Golden Gate Area Council.

How to verify an out of Council Merit Badge Counselor.

First, try to connect the Scout and counselor in Scoutbook. If that is successful, the counselor is registered and qualified. If unsuccessful, go to the counselor’s home council and search for their Advancement Administrators. Most will have an email address for either the Council Advancement Committee or Professional Advisor. Send an email asking if the counselor has been registered and qualified for the merit badge(s) in question and the status of their Youth Protection Training. Ask California councils if the counselor has completed AB506 training and LiveScan. The unit leader’s “blue card” signature verifies their counselor credentials verification.
